As you walk into the lobby, you’ll be greeted by the colorful front desk on the right side. And in front of you, a huge palm tree. The resort gives off the vibes that you’re in the 1950s and 1960s with its retro theming.

Also, in the lobby, you’ll find the Swizzle Lounge, which is perfect for cocktails and soft drinks. Further down, you’ll see the Universal Studio’s gift shop. And straight ahead, are the doors to the pool and the Atomic Bar & Grille. Which is a great spot to chill in case you’re room still needs more time. If that’s the case, you can leave your bags by the front desk and take a dip in the pool. Or head over to an adventure over at Universal City Walk or Universal Theme Parks. When your room is ready, you’ll receive a text message from the front desk!

During this stay, I had a family suite facing the pool! The Family Suites offer 2 queen beds and a pull-out sofa in the living room. The living room also offers a flat-screen tv. Comfortably, the room fits about 6 guests. For privacy, they have a sliding privacy partition between the bedroom and living space. And they offer a mini-fridge with a sink and microwave. Plus storage for any dry food items you’d want to store.

Each room has nifty nostalgic details and striking colors to really go all out for their 50s and 60s theming. In the bathroom showers, you’ll even find VO5 shampoo and Zest soap. Little. throwbacks to really bring you back in time!

Inside the Bayliner Diner, you have a variety of cuisines to choose from. Including the International station, with seasonal options from around the world. The Salad Bar to build your own refreshing salad. If you’re in the mood for a delicious sandwich, check out the Deli! Another popular choice is the Dessert Station featuring soft serve frozen yogurt machine. And yes, there are plenty of choices for toppings! Also, you can find ICEE Machines and S’more Kits! If you’re looking for a classic, you’ll want to head over to the burger station. Which also includes a side of fries. Or if you’re in the mood for italian, check out their Pizza Station for home-style pizza pies and pastas. This is also a convenience place to grab snacks and drinks while on the go!

Also, I should note that Cabana Bay does not offer Free Breakfast at the Resort. If you’re looking for your morning cup of coffee, you can use the complimentary machines in the guest rooms. Or head downstairs to Starbucks, which is conveniently located in the hotel lobby. 

Tip: If you need your morning Starbucks latte in the morning, head over to the cafe early! There is always a long line right before lunch time.

And if you’re looking for a drink, the Swizzle bar will have cocktails flowing out in the lobby!

Activities

Take a break from the parks and enjoy a few frames of Bowling with the family!

If you’re in for a friendly competition, grab some bowling shoes and get ready to knock some pins! The Galaxy Bowl is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel’s lobby building. And a great spot especially if one of your vacation days get rained out. (Tip: Florida gets a lot of rain during the summertime. They also offer bites and drinks in the Bowling alley.

Head over to Game-O-Rama if you’re more into video games. Here you’ll find newer high-tech arcade games plus vintage old school games.

If you need to pump some iron, the complimentary Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio has got you covered! The fitness equipment is upscale and top-notch. Plus you’ll find awesome fitness pioneer, Jack LaLanne’s vintage fitness videos and memorabilia around the gym.

The Pools

Cabana Bay Beach Resort offers two pools! One featuring the lazy river, Lazy River Courtyard, and the other with a fun slide, Cabana Pool.

If you’re looking for a bit of privacy, rent out a poolside cabana for the day. In each cabana, you’ll find an HDTV, Wi-Fi access, phone, mini refrigerator with bottled waters, safe, fan, and lounge chairs.

If you’re looking for a treat, a refreshing drink, or an escape from the Florida sun, head over to the Poolside Bar and Grille. On the side with the lazy river, you’ll find the Hideaway Bar and Grille tucked away in the back. And on the side with the water slide, you’ll find the Atomic grill serving up some delicious cocktails and bites. Both poolside bars offer grilled items for lunch and dinner, plus frozen and nonfrozen drinks!
