Tour of The Manatees in Florida with Clear Kayaks

The winter season in Florida is one of my favorite times of the year to spend more time outside. Today, we are exploring Crystal River with ‘Get Up and Go Kayaking’, a Florida based company that offers tours throughout the sunshine state. What makes Get Up and Go Kayaking unique is their super cool clear kayaking tours. Since Florida is made up of many lakes and springs, the clear kayaks allow us to see the marine life from right underneath us. And during the cooler season, Crystal River is home to a manatees!

Crystal River is about 2 hours away from Orlando, so it’s easy to take a drive there during the day and get back in time for dinner. The tours are great if you’re looking for activities to do that are socially distancing safe.

While on our tour, we were able to spot about 8-12 manatees! Manatees can be found in Crystal River all throughout the year, but you can find more in the winter time before they head back out to sea during Late April.

Fun Fact: Crystal River is the only place in Florida where you can legally swim with the manatees! Manatees are actually very gentle and peaceful mammals but please remember, they are still wild animals.

Where to Eat After Kayaking

Crump’s Landing

There are few awesome restaurants nearby Crystal River, but we decided to take a 20 minute drive to Crump’s Landing for their beautiful sunset views and tropical vibes. It’s a very fun place to grab a drink and the service we received was very friendly.

Our food order: I order the crab cake sandwich and a mojito!
